Veneers are used when you want to improve the appearance of your smile. Some common uses of veneers are to whiten and/or change the shape of your teeth.
If you have teeth that appear too small, uneven, chipped, or have dark stains, porcelain veneers may be a great choice for you.
Learn how veneers can fix dental imperfections and give you a natural looking smile.
Types of Dental Veneers
At Odin House Dental Surgery in Innaloo, we offer two types of dental veneer options, composite resin veneers and porcelain veneers. The process involves removing a small layer of the front surface of your tooth then cementing a veneer onto the surface to make it look the way you want.
To speed up the process, we offer a cutting edge technology known as CEREC Same Day Smile that eliminates the need to take dental impressions and an outside lab to create the veneer. Since this cuts down the time it takes to fit crowns and veneers, patients can achieve their ideal smile in a single visit.
Your first visit begins with a consultation and smile assessment with one of our doctors so you can discuss with them your smile goals. Photographs are taken, to evaluate symmetry and decide other interdisciplinary approaches from the comfort of our office.
The doctor will then take digital images of your teeth that function in the same way as impressions, without the uncomfortable mess. These digital impression images will then be used to design the crown or veneer so that it will fit your tooth properly and appear as natural as possible.
Dental Veneers are Created and Fitted in One Visit
Next, the CEREC technology will 3D print the veneer right in the office, so that the doctor can bond it over the tooth and complete your procedure in one visit.
The veneers are tried in then evaluated for fit and aesthetics. Minimal re-contouring will be done if necessary. Minimal re-contouring will be done if necessary. If all is good, they will then be cemented in place. At that time, we test phonetics, aesthetics, and overall feel.
Final photos will be taken and before you know it, your smile will be perfected while retaining a very natural look and feel.

Porcelain veneers can last between 10 and 20 years with proper care, proper brushing, flossing and overall good oral hygiene. Composite veneers on the other hand typically may need to be replaced within 5 years. Most of our patients prefer porcelain veneers for this reason.
With today’s modern materials, to all but a trained cosmetic dentist, they look just like natural teeth, even down to the natural imperfections and grain you’d see in your own teeth. We are able to custom match the colour of your other teeth, or even go multiple shades whiter – and still look amazing!
Composite resin is more porous than porcelain and tends to stain and discolour a bit more than porcelain. That’s another reason why most of our patients prefer porcelain veneers – in order to maintain a whiter smile for longer. Porcelain is non-porous, and does not stain. You will still need to have regular check and cleans to maintain your brilliant smile though.
It normally tales two visits – one for the impressions and temporary veneers, then a final fitting about a week later when your custom veneers come back from the dental lab. While you are wearing your temporary veneers, take care not to brush to hard or bite on hard foods in case they break.
Yes – many patients who do not see a big change with professional teeth whitening due to strong intrinsic stains have chosen porcelain veneers to achieve the desired effect. Veneers are often used to repair chips and small cracks in teeth, with a bonus of being able to whiten your teeth by several shades.
